Core Definition
Night monitoring is an operating model that uses CCTV and AI to detect theft, intrusion, abnormal behavior, and facility anomalies in real time and send immediate alerts during the nighttime hours when a store runs unattended or with minimal staff. It enables an immediate response the moment an incident occurs, rather than waiting until the next morning.
Store risks during nighttime hours
A single convenience store night-shift worker has a lot to handle: intoxicated customers, extended loitering, and even charger or refrigeration malfunctions, all alone. It's worse at unattended stores. A camera is meaningless if no one is watching it.
AI night monitoring analyzes video around the clock even when no one is present. The moment a preset abnormal pattern, such as intrusion, loitering beyond a time limit, or a refrigerator door left open too long, is detected, a text and app alert is sent.
Key points for configuring night monitoring
Night mode sets detection thresholds at a higher sensitivity than daytime, because at night the mere presence of anyone other than authorized staff inside the store can itself be an abnormal situation.
Setting multiple alert recipients matters. If a family member or a staff manager is registered as a secondary recipient alongside the store owner, a response is still possible even when the owner can't be reached.
How SAAI Uses It
SAAI's saai care night monitoring switches to night mode automatically after sunset. Intrusion alerts are sent within an average of 15 seconds, with a video capture of the detected moment attached to the app notification. For unattended stores, remote lock and alarm sound integration are also supported.
