Core Definition
A CCTV analytics solution is software in which AI analyzes, in real time, footage from cameras already installed in a store to deliver operational insights such as customer behavior data, abnormal-situation detection, and space-utilization analysis. Its defining trait is that it leverages existing infrastructure without requiring new hardware.
The Limits of Existing CCTV, and What Analytics Changes
CCTV installed for security purposes is a passive tool used only "to check after an incident happens." Most of the footage recorded 24 hours a day goes unwatched. Utilization is extremely low relative to the CCTV operating costs incurred every month.
A CCTV analytics solution puts the same cameras to active use around the clock. It automatically detects how long customers stayed in each zone, whether anything unusual occurred, and whether an out-of-stock has happened, and notifies the operator.
Deployment Considerations
Camera resolution and installation angle affect analysis accuracy. An IP camera of 1080p or higher is generally recommended, and a ceiling-mounted camera (bird's eye view) is best suited for space analysis.
From a privacy standpoint, always check whether anonymization is applied and where the data is stored. SAAI does not transmit raw footage externally; anonymization is performed on a device inside the store.
How SAAI Uses It
SAAI is compatible with most IP camera brands and can integrate with existing CCTV NVR/DVR systems. Deployment is complete with just a software install and camera angle adjustment, requiring no on-site construction or wiring work. Data collection begins from day one.
